USA Baseball Hires Jim Koerner as Director of Player Development

USA Baseball announced Tuesday that it has hired North Carolina Central coach Jim Koerner as its Director of Player Development.

In addition to being responsible for the on-field programming for USA Baseball’s six national teams and three national team development programs, Koerner will serve as field coordinator for the Prospect Development Pipeline League, assist with player and staff identification for the 10 clubs in the Appalachian League and produce curriculums for USA Baseball’s online educational resource center.

“We could not be more thrilled to have Jim joining USA Baseball as our Director of Player Development,” said USA Baseball Executive Director & CEO Paul Seiler, in a statement. “His passion for our game and for developing young athletes is inspiring, and the knowledge he has gained over two decades of coaching will be an invaluable asset to all of the players and coaches that come through our programs.”

Koerner was the head coach at NC Central from 2011-2021. Prior to coaching with NC Central, Koerner was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator with Buffalo from 2007-2011.

“I am honored to accept this position with USA Baseball,” Koerner said. “This organization represents a standard of excellence that is unmatched in the amateur baseball world and one that I am excited to be a part of going forward. I want to thank everyone involved in the process that helped make this opportunity possible and I am excited to get started.”
