TOP PROSPECTS
The Padres have managed to balance a playoff-ready roster while also finding spots among their player pool for their best and brightest prospects. Their pool includes all of their top 18 prospects, as ranked at midseason, with the exceptions of the two players among that group—Edward Olivares and Hudson Potts—who have since been traded. Their roster also included shortstop-turned-reliever Javy Guerra and outfielder Jorge Oña.

ADDITIONS AND SUBTRACTIONS
Beyond the trades of Olivares (Royals) and Potts (Red Sox), the Padres also dealt OF Jeisson Rosario to the Red Sox in the same deal as Potts, which netted them slugger Mitch Moreland. They also sent OF Franchy Cordero and RHP Ronald Bolanos to the Royals for reliever Tim Hill, and got speedster Jorge Mateo from the A’s for a player to be named later. The Padres also added 1B Yonder Alonso, in a small deal with the Braves.
