Atlanta Braves

—Braves’ No. 4 prospect Kyle Wright on Wednesday against the Marlins made his final exhibition start, pitching 3.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, walking three and striking out three. General manager Alex Anthopoulos told Fox Sports South on Wednesday that Wright was the leading candidate for the team’s final rotation spot, a role that was set to be occupied by lefthander Cole Hamels before he went down with a shoulder injury.

—No. 9 prospect Braden Shewmake on Wednesday collected a hit in one at-bat as a pinch hitter. The shortstop, who will head to the team’s alternate training site, rose to Double-A in 2019 in his professional debut after dominating low Class A.

Baltimore Orioles

—Orioles’ No. 8 prospect Hunter Harvey is likely heading to the injured list with elbow tightness, according to MASN Sports. The righthander was a candidate to take over as the team’s closer after posting a 1.42 ERA in seven appearances at the major league level last season while showing an upper-90s fastball.

Chicago White Sox

—White Sox’s top prospect Luis Robert on Wednesday put a bow on the exhibition season with a 1-for-3 performance, doubling and driving in a run against the Brewers. Robert came close to making another outstanding catch in center field, but his glove came off when he collided with the wall.

Cincinnati Reds

—Reds’ No. 19 prospect Joel Kuhnel on Wednesday pitched an inning in the team’s final exhibition game against the Pirates, allowing a run on two hits and striking out two batters. The righthander in 2019 made his major league debut, pitching to a 1-0, 4.66 mark and striking out nine batters in 9.2 innings.

—Reds’ No. 1 prospect Hunter Greene on Wednesday was added to the team’s player pool. The righthander has not pitched since July 2018 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Cleveland Indians

—Indians’ No. 16 prospect James Karinchak on Wednesday picked up a save against the Reds in the team’s final exhibition game, walking two batters and striking out one. The righthander in 2019 made his major league debut, appearing in five games and allowing one run while striking out eight batters.

Houston Astros

—Righthander Forrest Whitley on Wednesday pitched two innings in his final intrasquad start, allowing a hit, walking two and striking out one batter while sitting in the mid 90s. The Astros’ No. 1 prospect has impressed manager Dusty Baker this summer as he attempts to rebound from a disappointing 2019 campaign.

Kansas City Royals

—Royals’ No. 4 prospect Brady Singer will break camp with the team and start the club’s second game of the season Saturday against the Indians. Singer impressed during summer camp on the heels of a 2019 season where he went 12-5, 2.85 in 26 starts while utilizing his plus fastball and slider, but the evolution in summer camp of his changeup has helped him find a third average or better pitch.

—Recently acquired righthander Ronald Bolaños on Wednesday pitched an inning in relief, allowing two walks and striking out one. Bolaños and outfielder Franchy Cordero were traded from the Padres in the July 16 trade for lefty reliever Tim Hill

Los Angeles Angels

Patrick Sandoval on Wednesday started the team’s final exhibition game against the Padres, pitching three innings, allowing five runs on six hits, walking two batters and striking out one. The Angels’ No. 6 prospect in 2019 made his big league debut, pitching to a 0-4, 5.03 mark in 10 appearances (nine starts).

Miami Marlins

—Marlins’ No. 21 prospect Jordan Holloway pitched an inning in the team’s final exhibition game against the Braves, allowing two hits. The righthander in his return from Tommy John surgery in 2019 made 21 starts at high Class A, posting a 4-11, 4.45 mark. He will spend the 2020 season at the team’s alternate training site working on making his delivery more repeatable.

—Outfielder Monte Harrison (No. 6) and shortstop Jose Devers (No. 13) each went 1-for-2 as pinch hitters. Harrison, who scored a run, should make his debut this season while Devers will report to the team’s alternate training site to work on building up more at-bats.

Seattle Mariners

Justus Sheffield, the Mariners’ No. 7 prospect, on Wednesday struck out eight batters through four innings in the team’s intrasquad game. The lefthander in 2019 pitched to a 0-1, 5.50 mark in eight appearances (seven starts) in his big league debut.

 St. Louis Cardinals

—Baseball America correspondent Derrick Goold on Wednesday reported that Cardinals’ No. 19 prospect Kodi Whitley will make the team’s Opening Day roster in a relief role. The righthander last season quickly rose from high Class A to Triple-A, finishing the season with a 1.52 ERA and 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings in 16 appearances at Triple-A Memphis.

—No. 9 prospect Kwang-Hyun Kim on Wednesday had his final tuneup before the regular season by striking out all three batters he faced for the save in an exhibition game against the Royals. The lefthander was announced as the club’s closer following righthander Jordan Hicks joining the list of players who opted out of the 2020 season due to concerns involving the coronavirus pandemic.

Texas Rangers

—Rangers’ manager Chris Woodward on Wednesday announced that outfielder Leody Taveras (No. 3 prospect) and lefthander Joe Palumbo (No. 7) made the major league roster.
