The Padres acquired righthander Elliot Morris and three other prospects from the Angels at the 2014 trade deadline for Huston Street. Morris recorded a 3.38 ERA in 133 innings that season, while striking out 7.9 batters per nine innings and allowing a .216 opponent average, to appear like a future rotation candidate or possible reliever. He dealt with elbow trouble in 2015, however, and never got back on track, so the Padres released the 24-year-old last week.
San Diego also acquired since-traded reliever R.J. Alvarez and Double-A San Antonio double-play combo Jose Rondon and Taylor Lindsey in the Street deal.
