Juan Francisco spent most of the 2014 season in the big leagues with the Blue Jays then spent 2015 in Japan, where he went 3-for-18 (.167) in five games for Yomiuri. He didn’t play in 2016 and now heads to Orioles camp at age 29.

A Diamondbacks 23rd-round pick out of Oklahoma State in 2013, Randy McCurry spent one year in the Arizona system. He played second base and third base at short-season Hillsboro, batting .216/.269/.251 in 55 games prior to his release during 2014 spring training. After two seasons away from the game, McCurry resurfaced in the Frontier League in 2016, this time as a pitcher. He made 35 relief appearances for Evansville and recorded 10.9 strikeouts and 4.2 walks per nine innings. Now 27, McCurry will continue working as a pitcher for the Cubs.

Chris Reed, a 26-year-old lefthander who finished last season in the restricted list, retired from the game about a month before minor league spring training. The Marlins had outrighted Reed off the 40-man roster following the 2015 season, the same year they traded reliever Grant Dayton to the Dodgers to acquire him. Los Angeles made Reed a first-round pick in 2011 out of Stanford. He appeared in two major league games for Miami in 2015.
