The Marlins signed 24-year-old righthander Horacio Acosta after he spent two seasons in the independent Frontier League. The Miami native pitched collegiately at NAIA Point Park University in Pittsburgh and also for Colombia at the qualifiers for the 2017 World Baseball Classic.

The Brewers cut ties with 25-year-old corner outfielder Victor Roache, the club’s first-round pick form Georgia Southern in 2012, by trading him to the Dodgers. The powerful righthanded batter spent most of his time the past three seasons at Double-A Biloxi, hitting .234/.313/.391 with 12 home runs in 498 plate appearances.
