Kevin Millar Joins Allstate For Good Hands In The Stands

OMAHA—Kevin Millar believes his first trip to the College World Series won’t be his last.

“I had a lot of friends text me saying, ‘I wish I was there,'” the MLB Network analyst and former big league World Series champion said Saturday morning. “I know I’m going to come back. It’s just a special place. It’s almost like Cooperstown. If you’re a dad, if you’re a fan, you have to come to Omaha and experience the College World Series.”

Millar, who played his college baseball at Lamar, came to town to remind fans to bring their gloves to TD Ameritrade Park. Allstate Insurance Company, an NCAA corporate sponsor, has continued its Good Hands in the Stands charitable program for the third straight year. As part of the program, Allstate make donations for every foul and home run ball that are hit into the stands.

Allstate will donate $500 per caught foul ball, then doubles the donation to $1,000 for each home run ball caught—up to $25,000. The total donation will go to Boys Town, the Omaha charity that, for nearly a century, has given at-risk children the family, support and care they need to overcome their circumstances and realize their potential.

“Anytime you have a chance to help the youth, you take it,” Millar said. “Boys Town is a great and local charity, and Allstate is always stepping out and doing the right thing . . . We’re going to raise up to $25,000 for Boys Town charity, which is local, which is neat. They need a new track and field there, a lot of kids use it. We’re going to use that money to get a new track.

“So if you show your Good Hands in the Stands, come on down—you’ll get a trophy and a picture, and we’ll donate.”

Members of Allstate’s “Good Hands in the Stands” crew will be all around TD Ameritrade Park during the games Saturday and Sunday to deliver a keepsake trophy directly to fans who catch foul and home run balls in their seats. Fans are encouraged to snap a picture of their memorable moment to share on social media using the hashtag #GoodHandsFans.

Last year’s promotion allowed Allstate to donate money to purchase new athletic equipment for the Boys Town sports program. Allstate’s contributions to Boys Town will be acknowledged before Game Six of the College World Series on June 20 with a special check presentation.

“Allstate is thrilled to be back in Omaha for the third year supporting this great initiative,” said Pam Hollander, vice president of marketing for Allstate Insurance Company. “We are proud to not only be rewarding fans, but to also be supporting such an important organization in the Omaha community.”

Throughout the four games during opening weekend (June 18-19) at the Men’s CWS, Allstate “Good Hands in the Stands” crew members will be stationed around TD Ameritrade Park to deliver a keepsake trophy directly to fans who catch foul and home run balls in their seats. Fans are encouraged to snap a picture of their memorable moment to share on social media using the hashtag #GoodHandsFans.
