The Midwest League announced on Wednesday that the May 9-11 three-game series between Quad Cities and Great Lakes has been cancelled. While the River Bandits Modern Woodmen Park remains dry, the flooding around the park remains, making it unsafe to get fans and players into the stadium.

The Loons are not scheduled to face Quad Cities again in the first half of the season, so the games will not be made up.

This is the fifth Quad Cities homestand that has been affected by the flooding. The River Bandits played at home against Clinton on April 26 and again for a doubleheader on April 28 (the April 27th game was rained out). Other than that, they have been forced to play every game this season on the road. Quad Cities is not scheduled to return home again until May 24, when they are scheduled to host Wisconsin in a four-game series that begins a seven-game homestand. When the next home game arrives, the River Bandits are scheduled to have played 40 of their first 43 games on the road.

“It is amazing how Modern Woodmen Park has been protected from the unprecedented flood waters, but it is simply not safe or practical for the teams, River Bandits staff and most importantly our fans to access the stadium,” Midwest League president Dick Nussbaum said in a release.
