College Podcast: Wake Forest’s Tom Walter, Kevin Jordan Talk New Venture

On this episode of the Baseball America College Podcast, Teddy Cahill and Joe Healy are joined by Wake Forest coach Tom Walter and former Wake Forest player Kevin Jordan to discuss their new organization called Get in the Game.

You may recall that the bond between Walter and Jordan went beyond that of a typical coach-player relationship when, in a story that made waves nationally, Walter stepped up and donated a kidney to Jordan in 2011. Now that Jordan has moved on from playing in the program, he and Walter have developed a friendship, which made them natural allies in this new venture.

Per its website, the goal of the newly-founded organization is to “educate, inspire, and empower a generation of young people to take action in their homes, schools and communities.”

Get in the Game has been around just a few months at this point, but already, it’s off and running. The program has partnered with three North Carolina schools and the Washington Nationals academy in Washington, D.C.

Within the episode, Walter and Jordan discuss how Get in the Game came to be, what the response has been in the early going, what they would like to see this program do in the future and what anyone can do if they want to get involved.
