Newsmakers from Monday’s action:

Touki Toussaint, RHP, Braves. Toussaint has long struggled with consistency of his control. At times he’d lose the strike zone and struggle despite outstanding pure stuff. He made significant strides to improve his control this season, but on Monday, the old problems returned. Toussaint recorded only one out while walking two and allowing four hits and five runs.

Max Fried, LHP, Braves. Fried’s dominant run through the Arizona Fall League season continued with seven strikeouts in five innings. He allowed two runs. Fried, the Braves No. 8 prospect, now has 18 strikeouts in 13 innings and a 0.69 AFL ERA.

Ryan Mountcastle, 3B, Orioles. Mountcastle is adjusting to third base in the AFL, but he’s continuing to hit no matter what position he plays. Mountcastle went 3-for-4 with double and a home run yesterday.

Kyle Lewis, OF, Mariners. In his first AFL game, Lewis. the Mariners’ 2015 first-round pick, went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a walk.

Fernando Tatis Jr., SS, Padres. Tatis’ excellent start in the Dominican winter league continued with a 2-for-3 day with a walk. Tattis is now hitting .444 with five walks in 24 plate-appearances.
