NOTABLE INCLUSIONS

All 10 of Atlanta’s preseason top 10 prospects are here. OF Cristian Pache, RHPs Bryse Wilson and Kyle Wright, C William Contreras and LHP Tucker Davidson are already on the 40-man roster. The rest of the top 10—OF Drew Waters, RHP Ian Anderson, LHP Kyle Muller, C Shea Langeliers and LHP Kyle Muller—are also in the player pool. So is LHP Jared Shuster, the team’s first-round pick (No. 25 overall) this year out of Wake Forest. Pache, Anderson, Waters and Wright are all Top 100 prospects. LHP Tyler Matzek, who has not pitched in the majors since 2015, is making a comeback attempt and pitched well enough in spring training to earn a spot in the pool.

NOTABLE EXCLUSIONS

There aren’t any glaring omissions here. The highest ranked prospect who isn’t on here is OF Michael Harris, a 19-year-old third-round pick in the 2019 draft who played 22 games at low Class A Rome last year. Harris was later added July 21.

PARTING THOUGHTS

The Braves have one of the game’s best farm systems and they brought all of their priority prospects in for their 60-man player pool, giving them one of the most exciting collections of talent to follow this summer. We knew several of them were going to be here anyway since they are already on the 40-man roster, but the Braves made sure to bolster that group by making sure all of their other top prospects are in the player pool to continue their development this summer and provide depth for a team expected to contend in the National League.
