Adidas Unveils Little League Baseball, Softball World Series Uniforms

When Adidas makes its on-field debut for the 2019 Little League World Series tournaments they will do so with a design that represents the various regions from across the globe that gather for the annual tournament.

“When these boys and girls from around the world get together and share a common experience and goal, there is a unique bonding experience that happens and we wanted to showcase that unity through the design of these uniforms,” says Todd Rolak, senior design director for Adidas. “The Little League World Series tournaments are a tremendous journey for young athletes, and we find the ability to have an impact on these moments and these memories incredibly rewarding at Adidas.”

The new designs for both the baseball and softball uniforms used Little League’s traditional colorways as inspiration. On the jersey sleeves, expect to find a color bar design element made up of seven color blocks built from the region’s original colorway and inspired by flags. To signify and celebrate the unity, each color bar fuses together to create a “unity band” on the inside neck of the jersey.

On the left sleeve of each jersey is the signature Little League patch in the shape of a keystone, a design first created in 1948 in homage to Little League’s 10th anniversary. It mirrors the stone that holds a house together, meant to signify Little League’s ability to hold a community together.

Creating an asymmetrical design, the LLWS logo gets stitched on the right sleeve of each jersey, unique to each athlete’s division, event location and year they played.

As an additional nod to the keystone, Adidas created all-new original typography to highlight each region’s name. The player numbers will match, each sublimated into the chest of the uniform. The lettering and numbers for each regional moniker begins with a serif font from the custom creation and aligns to fit over the outline of the keystone patch.

The final touch includes an underline stretched below each regional name “to visualize the game’s base baths.”

Little League will hold seven World Series events — four in baseball and three in softball from Pennsylvania to Oregon — and Adidas will outfit each of the teams with uniforms, along with cleats, training apparel and accessories. All coaches will receive footwear and apparel.

Adidas originally announced its partnership with Little League on May 1, calling it a multi-year agreement between the Portland, Oregon, office of Adidas North America and the Williamsport, Pennsylvania, office of Little League.

“The Little League World Series is an iconic event that gives the opportunity for kids in communities all around the world to come together and unite through the games of baseball and softball,” says Liz DiLullo Brown, Little League senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “Thanks to the tremendous efforts of the Adidas team, this year’s uniforms will create a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will remind every Little League World Series player about the importance of unity, tradition and history.”
