Adidas Shows Off 2017 ‘Dipped’ Cleat Collection

For those interested in monochromatic color, Adidas has the aesthetic dialed in with the expansion of the adizero Afterburner cleat collection and its 2017 “Dipped” varieties. Fifteen of those varieties, to be specific.

Noted for its monochromatic look, the color blocking on the updated baseball cleat gives each of the 15 colors a unique triple color-blocking aesthetic by offering texture and materials that shows off each color slightly different across each cleat.

Designed for speed, on the performance side, Adidas calls the 2017 adizero Afterburner the lightest cleat in the game with a seamless upper that includes zoned support and a reinforced abrasion toecap for lateral movements. Sculpted for aerodynamics around the foot for a sock-like feel, a breathable compression bootie is meant to offer flexibility. An articulated heel construction aims to help with multidirectional movement and control. Overall, Adidas says the redefined fit, feel and construction ushers in a sneaker profile to baseball cleats.

Also borrowing from sneaker culture, the Dipped collection embraces all things color. The 15 options include power red, solar red, maroon, purple, dark green, emerald, lime, chalk white, black, onyx, tactile steel, collegiate gold, collegiate orange, collegiate royal and collegiate navy.

The Dipped collection releases Aug. 1, retails for $100 per pair, and pushes color into the baseball world with new vigor.
