2019 Preseason Projected Field of 64 — College Baseball, MLB Draft, Prospects

College baseball season has nearly arrived. Opening Day is a week away and around the country teams are getting ready to start on the Road to Omaha.

How that journey plays out largely remains to be seen – that’s part of the fun of the college baseball season. But it’s never too early to project what the NCAA Tournament will look like on Selection Monday.

This looks to be another strong spring in the Southeastern Conference and it leads all leagues with 10 teams in the field, which would match the record. The Atlantic Coast Conference was down last season in terms of depth, but looks to have bounced back. The Pac-12 Conference also looks stronger this season from top to bottom and has several teams in the tournament mix.

With the power conferences projected to take up so many at-large bids, it looks to be a tough year for mid-majors. But the selection committee last year placed a strong emphasis on things such as conference winning percentage and regular-season finish, both of which help mid-major teams to breakthrough to regionals.

This is just a starting point. Much will change between Feb. 15 and Memorial Day when the NCAA Tournament field is officially announced. Baseball America will update the Projected Field of 64 weekly throughout the spring.
