2019 NJCAA Division III World Series Preview

The 2019 NJCAA Division III World Series field is set as the tournament is set to begin on Saturday, May 25 at Tusculum University’s Pioneer Park in Greeneville, Tennessee. The double-elimination tournament features eight teams, seven of which are district champions with the remaining team being selected to receive the at-large bid.

The National Championship will be played on either Thursday, May 30 or Friday, May 31, depending on the number of losses each of the two teams has.

In typical tournament fashion, the first round will feature matchups between the one-seed and eight-seed, the two-seed and seven-seed, the three-seed and six-seed and the four-seed and five-seed.

Cumberland County (N.J.) was unable to win its District Championship, but was deemed worthy of the at-large bid for being the No. 1 team in the country in the latest NJCAA Division III Baseball Poll Committee Rankings.

Tyler (Tex.) has won four of the last five National Championships, but failed to make the tournament this year. Brookhaven (Tex.) was able to defeat Tyler (Tex.) in a best-of-three series to win the District C Championship.

Rowan Gloucester (N.J.) has won 15 of its last 17 games heading into the World Series. Over the course of those 17 games, the Roadrunners have scored 10 or more runs seven times. One of the more dominant victories over that stretch was a 21-1 dismantling of Cumberland County (N.J.) on the road.

Brookhaven (Tex.) leads Division III in runs, hits and runs batted in, and although these stats seem offensively dominating, Brookhaven (Tex.) also leads Division III in games played at 63. That mark is at least 15 games more than any other team competing in the World Series.
