THE TOP 20 MLB PROSPECTS IN THE SALLY LEAGUE

The South Atlantic League is in the midst of a prospect drought. For a second consecutive season the star power of the league couldn’t come close to matching that of the Midwest League.

There were plenty of pitchers who found success, and the league had a number of catchers with power potential as well as some slugging outfielders and first basemen. But the league was generally thin on up-the-middle infielders who could both hit and field and many of the better pitchers either lack the fastballs or secondary offerings to project as big league starters.

League champion Lexington (Royals) did boast one of the deepest crops of prospects in the league, and they topped similarly talented Lakewood (Phillies) in the finals.
