Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states

The nation’s capital isn’t exactly known for its youth baseball culture, but it does churn out prep talent from time to time. In 2008, both L.J. Hoes and Danny Hultzen emerged from the state. This year, there is no high-round talent in D.C. There is, however, a trio of Georgetown arms that could be picked at some point. Curtiss Pomeroy has the best velocity, but also performed poorly as a senior. Matt Smith can work in the low 90s, and logged significant innings as a starter. David Ellingson is a solid middle relief prospect.
