2016 State Draft Report: Pennsylvania

Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states

In 2015, we gave Pennsylvania four stars, marking a banner year in which there were two top 100 players, and 13 players ranked in the BA 500. This year’s class, however, is both deeper and more top-heavy. Three players have a chance to be selected in the first round, and we might even be talking about a fourth first round candidate had prep outfielder Brandon McIlwain not made the decision to enroll early at South Carolina.

Pennsylvania has a little bit of everything this year. There’s potent prep bats (Alex Kirilloff and Nolan Jones), a physical college pitcher (T.J. Zeuch) and a solid college senior (Mike Garzillo). There are a few projectable high school arms, too, making this a deep year in the Keystone State.
