2016 State Draft Report: Arizona

CROP RATING
updated_state_rating_two_star Not up to par
Rating compares this year’s group to what a state typically produces, not to other states

The state of Arizona is unlikely to produce a first round pick in this year’s class, but there is some depth in the state. Bobby Dalbec, the state’s top prospect entering the spring, has had a rough season at the plate, but with the relative lack of righthanded power bats in this year’s class, Dalbec could still be selected in the top five rounds.

The first prospect taken out of the Grand Canyon state could be Arizona State shortstop Colby Woodmansee, who has three years of track record as a middle infielder in a power conference. In a draft class that is light on college shortstops, Woodmansee could be a very appealing option for a team’s second or third pick.
