Vimael Machin

Virginia Commonwealth's program is on the rise, and Machin is a big reason why. The Puerto Rico native has been a four-year starter for the Rams, and has performed for all four years. Machin is a sure-footed defender, with average range for the position. His arm is slightly below-average, which leads many to doubt his ability to play the position at the next level. Still, Machin has feel for the barrel, and his lefthanded bat stays in the zone for quite a while, allowing to make consistent contact. Machin has well below average power and is a below average runner. Scouts see him as a strong senior sign with the potential to hit and develop into a utility infielder.
