Lewis began his college career at Chipola (Fla.) JC and was named Panhandle Conference Pitcher of the Year last spring after posting a 2.98 ERA and striking out 95 batters in 81 2/3 innings. He was drafted by the Rockies in the 40th round, but didn't sign and moved on to Florida. He's been exclusively a reliever for the Gators, beginning the season as their closer before transitioning into more of a bullpen ace capable of pitching multiple innings. Lewis throws from a nearly sidearm slot and attacks hitters with a fastball-slider combination. He gets good run and sink on his low-90s fastball and pairs it with a slider that grades out at least as average. Lewis' arm slot and size (he's listed at 6-foot, 170 pounds) mean he'll stay in the bullpen as a professional. But he throws strikes and has proven he's capable of getting both lefties and righties out, even without more than a fringy changeup.
