Grotjohn led the NCAA in hitting for a large chunk of the season and finished batting .390 with 15 doubles to lead Cal State Bakersfield to the Western Athletic Conference championship game. Grotjohn makes a lot of hard contact but is purely a line drive hitter without much home-run potential. He is a good athlete but evaluators expect him to move off of shortstop and play a utility infield role.
