Many scouts project Perry to end up in the bullpen long-term because of his lack of physicality and his inability to hold his stuff deep into outings. Early in games, however, Perry has excellent pure stuff. He has plus arm speed and his fastball reaches 95 mph at its best, and he backs it up with a plus breaking ball, a mid-80s snapper with tight vertical break. The undersized righthander--who scouts say is generously listed at 5-foot-11--suffered a stress fracture in his elbow in the spring, meaning that he's likely to end up going to college. Perry is committed to Kentucky, who has had tremendous success in developing its pitching staff this season under the new regime of Nick Mangione. If Perry can get healthy and play a late-inning relief role for the Wildcats, he could boost his draft stock and come out higher in three years.
