A two-way player for Bradley, Ashbeck helped the Braves to their first regional bid since 1968, though he was chased in three innings by Michigan in a regional defeat. The 6-foot-4, 222-pounder also hit as the DH when he didn't pitch, hitting .264/.353/.411, but his future is on the mound, as he went 11-5, 3.55 as the Braves' ace. Ashbeck pitches off a sinker-slider mix, with both pitches grading as average. His fastball sits 88-90 mph, touching the low 90s, but it stands out more for its sink and his ability to locate it. His slider is similar in that it's more notable as a ground ball pitch than as a wipeout swing-and-miss offering. Ashbeck adds a changeup and pounds the zone, but when he misses up, he gets punished (8 home runs allowed). His stuff could improve a tick as he gives up two-way duties as a pro.
