Xavier Fernandez

Fernandez helped his stock at Puerto Rico's Excellence Tournament, an annual gathering of the island's top high school prospects. While he doesn't have flashy tools, he's considered solid across the board. He has a durable, thick frame at 6 feet and 210 pounds, and enough agility to have good footwork. His raw arm strength grades out as solid-average, and he shows scouts pop times in the 1.85-1.90 range on throws to second base. His defense is ahead of his offense right now, but he has performed well at the plate this spring. He's a decent hitter with good bat control and power to the gaps.
