Coffey ranked No. 421 on the BA 500 in 2017 coming out of Delta High in Muncie, Ind. He was a late bloomer in high school and began his college career at Arizona State as an infielder. But he came to Tempe with a vaunted group of infielders and, unable to get traction with the Sun Devils, transferred to San Jacinto (Texas) JC. He transferred again to Wabash Valley (Ill.) JC, where he showed off two-way ability. Listed at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, he has a powerful right arm that plays well out of the bullpen and has the potential to get his fastball into the mid 90s. He is committed to Louisville.
