  Goins entered the spring as a 6-foot righthander with a reputation for relying on his command and the life on his pitches. That's not a profile that wows scouts, and he seemed likely to follow through on his commitment to Texas. Then several upper-level scouts attended a March start when he reached 94 mph with his fastball and backed it up with a plus slider and an average changeup. He has more often shown an 88-92 mph fastball, an inconsistent slider and fringy changeup this spring, but that flash may have been enough to get him popped in the top five rounds. He continues to show a great feel for pitching, good movement on his pitches and little effort in his delivery. Scouts just wish there was some projection remaining in his 190-pound frame.
