  Track Record: Goodman was the first Memphis player to earn freshman All-American when he hit .326/.367/.573 with 13 home runs. The Rockies selected Goodman in the four round in the 2021 draft and signed him for an over-slot bonus of $600,000. In his first full season, Goodman reached Double-A and hit 36 home runs, which tied him for third in the minor leagues. Goodman began 2023 back in Double-A, where he showed an improved approach and contact ability. He was promoted to Triple-A on Aug. 8 and went on a hot streak that included nine home runs over 15 games and helped him earn his first callup.
  
  Scouting Report: Goodman is a positionless masher with double-plus game power and improving plate skills. He entered the year with well below-average contact and an aggressive approach. Goodman made noticeable changes coming into 2023, which helped him cut his chase rate by 25% and improve his contact rate to a functioning level. Goodman’s issues with spin and being overly aggressive resurface in his small major league sample. Goodman’s carrying tool is his double-plus raw power which he gets to consistently during games. He swings to do damage and has enough power to drive the ball out of the yard even on mis-hits. He is a below-average defender behind the plate and in left field--where he was used at times in 2023--but is likely destined for first base.

  Track Record: After a standout freshman campaign with Memphis in 2019, Goodman put himself onto the national radar. He was the first Memphis player to earn Freshman All-American honors and continued to set off alarm bells in the industry over the next two seasons. He moved to catcher as a sophomore and hit 21 home runs, which tied him for third in all of Division I. The Rockies selected Goodman in the fourth round of the 2021 draft and signed him for an above-slot $600,000. He moved from Low-A to Double-A in 2022 while hitting 36 home runs, which tied him for third in the minors.
  
  Scouting Report: Although he's a below-average hitter overall, Goodman has few peers when it comes to raw power. He has a simple swing with a big leg kick and an approach geared to hunt fastballs. He produces big-time bat speed with a violent, leveraged swing. His overall approached is tailored toward his pull side but he has plenty of power to all sectors. He's a fringe-average runner and won't clog the bases. Goodman is still gaining experience behind the plate but has plus arm strength that would play up further with improved mechanics and technique.

After playing in the outfield that season, Goodman began catching during his sophomore year and has continued to catch for Memphis this spring, which makes his powerful righthanded bat all the more interesting. Goodman’s raw power is easily plus, and has translated to 21 homers through 56 games, with a .307/.401/.678 slash line. That power does come with a good amount of swing-and-miss. He’s struck out around 21% of the time in his career in the American Athletic Conference and his swing is noisy, with plenty of moving parts. He’s got significant bat waggle pre-pitch and during his load, and also uses a very big leg kick in his lower half, which scouts believe will need to be toned down at the next level. There are question marks defensively as well. While Goodman is a solid athlete with big-time natural arm strength, his actions are clunky behind the plate and scouts are skeptical about how much he’ll be able to improve his receiving and blocking. His arm is only fringe-average behind the plate. Goodman is a solid runner who’s gone 22-for-25 in stolen base attempts in his career, so perhaps the best fit for him is a corner outfield position, where his arm might play better. A team who thinks he can figure out the catching could take him in the top few rounds.
