  Track Record: A three-year starter at Campbell, Packard led the Big South Conference in hits and RBIs as a senior and was drafted by the Mariners in the ninth round. He signed for a below-slot $25,000. Packard emerged as a potential steal with a stellar offensive campaign in his pro debut and delivered another in 2023. He hit .291 with 14 home runs, 82 RBIs and an .839 OPS at Double-A Arkansas, a notorious pitchers park, and finished fifth in the Texas League with 136 hits.
  
  Scouting Report: Packard lacks big tools but can flat-out hit. He has excellent strike zone discipline, consistently works high-quality at-bats and drives hittable pitches with a quick, direct lefthanded swing. He previously flared balls the other way with an inside-out stroke, but he has learned to lift and pull the ball more and now uses the whole field. He hits all pitch types, handles both righties and lefties and projects to be an average hitter with double-digit home runs. Packard is a well-below average runner with limited athleticism and has to move between left field, right field and first base to avoid being overexposed. He’s a below-average defender with a below-average arm everywhere.
  
  The Future: Packard’s hitting ability gives him a chance to carve out a role as a reserve outfielder. He’ll move to Triple-A Tacoma in 2024.

  Track Record: Packard began his college career at Arizona Western JC before transferring to Campbell, where he started three years in the Camels outfield and led the Big South Conference in hits and an RBIs as a senior. The Mariners drafted him in the ninth round and gave him a $25,000 bonus as a senior sign. Packard opened his first full season at High-A Everett in 2022 and quickly asserted himself as a player to watch in the Mariners system. He finished among Everett's leaders in hits, doubles, home runs and RBIs despite missing more than two months with a strained hamstring and finished in the Arizona Fall League.

He calmly separates balls and strikes with a polished, patient approach from the left side and hits balls where they're pitched, using the whole field with a quick, inside-out swing. He has the power to drive balls out to his pullside and projects to be an average hitter who could reach double digit home runs given enough at-bats. Packard doesn't offer much defensively and will have to hit his way to the majors. He's a well below-average runner with limited athleticism and is a below-average defender in left field.
