Dunn’s outstanding makeup and grinder mentality makes the Utah second baseman a favorite of many local area scouts. While small in stature at 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, Dunn was leading all Utah hitters with a .350/.455/.554 slash line through early May. He is an at least average hitter with solid bat-to-ball skills and a short swing that helps him line doubles from gap to gap. Dunn possesses below-average power, but he understands his game and doesn’t try to change his swing to sell out for power. He’s a plus runner but not especially quick at the jump, so he doesn’t steal as many bases as expected. His below-average arm limits him to second base, but his speed could allow him to try center field in the future. Dunn is expected to be drafted later on Day 2.
