That has led to inconsistent fastball velocity and a rudimentary curveball. He often sits 87-91 mph but has touched 92-93, with some reports of even higher readings. Scouts grade his curveball as below-average, though it has improved since last summer. Baker is committed to North Florida and could vault into the first five rounds with a good showing in Sebring at Florida's state high school all-star gathering.
