A 5-foot-11, 204-pound righthander, Salgado started his career at San Jacinto (Texas) JC and was impressive in his freshman season, leading to the Padres draft him in the 34th round in 2019. He returned to school for the 2020 season, then transferred to Oregon State for the 2021 campaign, where he was dominant in a relief role, with a 3-0, 1.01 mark, 27 strikeouts and 14 walks in 26.2 innings. Salgado can run his fastball into the upper 90s and pairs it with a curveball. With a fiery presence on the mound and a fastball that has increased its velocity significantly since his freshman season, Salgado is an intriguing relief arm at the next level.
