Dalatri in 2016 was drafted in the 40th round by the Rockies but continued to North Carolina, where he quickly established himself in the Tar Heels’ rotation. He earned Freshman All-America honors and an invitation to USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team. He was sidelined much of his sophomore season by a stress reaction in his elbow but returned in time for the postseason. Dalatri is not overpowering but has a good feel for his craft and understands what he needs to do to get outs. His fastball can get up to 94 mph, but he more typically pitches 90-91 mph and mixes in a good changeup and breaking ball. He consistently throws his whole arsenal for strikes and makes the most of his 6-foot-6, 240-pound frame to throw downhill and create groundball outs.
