The State Of Sports Betting Across The Country

When the Supreme Court ruled that each state could determine if and how sports can be wagered on within their borders, it opened up the wild west of sports betting. Eight states have legalized gambling and many others have proposed legislation, but the ways in which people can gamble in each state are different. 

STATES WHERE YOU CAN GAMBLE NOW

Delaware: In person only at casinos and racetracks

Mississippi: In person at casinos only

Nevada: In person at casinos and racetracks and mobile.

New Jersey: In person at casinos and racetracks and mobile.

New Mexico: In person at casinos on tribal grounds

Pennsylvania: In person at casinos with mobile coming in July

Rhode Island: In person at casinos, with mobile expected this fall. 

West Virginia: In person at casinos and mobile, but mobile is temporarily sidelined due to a vendor dispute. 

STATES (INCLUDING WASHINGTON D.C.) WHERE BETTING IS LEGAL BUT NOT YET IMPLEMENTED

Arkansas: Legislation approved, will be implemented in person only at casinos, no timeline for implementation. 

New York: Legislation approved, will be implemented in person only at casinos in late May. 

Tennessee: Legislated approved for mobile betting only, no timeline for implementation. 

Washington D.C.: Legislation approved for in person and mobile betting in certain zones, awaiting congressional approval.

STATES WITH NO ACTIVITY

Alaska, Florida, Idaho, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Wyoming and Utah.
