The Rangers have five of their top six prospects in their pool with are 3B Josh Jung, C Sam Huff, CF Leody Taveras 2B/OF Nick Solak and first-round pick 2B Justin Foscue. LHP Joe Palumbo, RHP Jonathan Hernandez and RHP DeMarcus Evans are there as well. Palumbo is a potential back-end starter, Hernandez has starter experience but has a fastball he can dial up to 99 mph in short stints, while Evans throws a power invisiball and could possibly play a role in the big league bullpen this year. 3B Sherten Apostel and SS Anderson Tejeda, two other 40-man roster members, are also here, mostly for development purposes.
ADDITIONS AND SUBTRACTIONS
The Rangers added RHP Cole Winn after leaving him off their initial pool, but did not do the same for RHPs Hans Crouse or Ronny Henriquez, two righthanders who joined Winn in the 2019 rotation at low Class A Hickory. Foscue was added to the roster in August, as were RHPs Ricky Vanasco and Jason Bahr and 2B Yonny Hernandez. Veterans Derek Dietrich and Jerad Eickhoff also signed minor league deals and were added.
