TOP PROSPECTS
The only player among the Rays’ Top 10 prospects not included on the team’s player pool is this year’s first-round pick, RHP Nick Bitsko. Considering Bitsko is even younger than the average high school draftee, it makes sense for a team with playoff-aspirations to exclude him from its 60-player pool.

Other members of Tampa Bay’s midseason Top 30 include OF Josh Lowe (No. 11), OF Randy Arozarena (No. 13), 3B Kevin Padlo (No. 18), RHP Brent Honeywell (No. 19) and INF Taylor Walls (No. 22). RHP Peter Fairbanks ranked No. 26 at midseason but has since graduated from prospect consideration.

ADDITIONS AND SUBTRACTIONS
There have been quite a few comings and goings for the Rays. The team acquired OF Brett Phillips from the Royals in exchange for infield prospect Lucius Fox, and also sent Jose Martinez to the Cubs in exchange for a pair of players to be named later. Honeywell was initially excluded from the 60-man player pool while rehabbing, but has since joined the group at the team’s spring training site in Port Charlotte, Fla. The team has also lost multiple pitchers—Brendan McKay, Andrew Kittredge, Yonny Chirinos and Jalen Beeks among them—to major injuries.
