Assigned to Arizona Fall League: RHP Johan Juan

The Rangers prevented 24-year-old, lefthanded-hitting Drew Robinson from becoming a minor league free agent by adding him to the 40-man roster. The 2010 fourth-round pick hit .257/.350/.480 in 125 games at Triple-A Round Rock this season, while starting 10 or more games at five positions: second base (26), third base (26), right field (33), center field (16) and first base (14).

While Robinson didn’t hit for a high average in the Pacific Coast League in 2016 (the average was .269) or make a ton of contact (28 percent strikeouts), he showed excellent secondary skills of power, patience and speed. He hit 20 home runs and recorded a .223 isolated slugging percentage that ranked in the 87th percentile among PCL batters who qualified for our Top 20 Prospects ranking. His 12 percent walk rate placed him in the 86th percentile, while he stole 17 bases and legged out 10 triples.
