The Tyler Herb trade functions as the resolution to the Dec. 7 trade that sent Chris Heston to the Mariners for a player to be named, even though it won’t technically be recorded as such. That’s because more than six months had elapsed since the Heston trade. Teams are permitted six months to resolve all trades involving PTBNs.
