Minor League Promotions We're Looking Forward To In June

Promotion: Classic Vinyl Night/Tribute To Sgt. Pepper Team: Fresno Grizzlies Date: June 1 One of the most creative teams in the minor leagues is at it again. This time, the Grizzlies will celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album with themed jerseys. Additionally, vinyl collectors will be able to buy, sell and trade their favorite albums with fellow audiophiles all evening at Chukchansi Park. A Beatles tribute band, Beatleville, will perform as well. The team put together a video promoting the evening.

Promotion: 60's Night/Tribute To Sgt. Pepper
Team: Memphis Redbirds
Date: June 2
A night after Fresno pays tribute to the 50-year anniversary of one of The Beatles' seminal albums, the Redbirds will do the same. Like the Grizzlies, the Redbirds will also wear special jerseys to honor what was in style at the time. Fans who purchase specialty tickets for $17 (field box) or $20 (dugout) tickets will go home with a genuine record sleeve (ask your parents, or your local hipster) with the Redbirds team replacing the regular members of The Lonely Hearts Club Band. Lucky fans will also have a chance to get their sleeve autographed by members of the Redbirds. Rhetorical question: How many players on the Memphis roster have ever heard the Sgt. Pepper album, which turns 50 years old this year?

Promotion: Fidget Spinner Fridays
Team: Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Date: June 2 (and every Friday home game for the rest of the year)
Last year, Pokemon Go roared through popular culture and found its way into the minor leagues. This year, Fidget Spinners are the new trend, and minor league clubs are happy to jump on the trend. Starting this Friday, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans will give the gadgets out to the first 500 children to show up at Field. There are eight Friday home games remaining on the Myrtle Beach slate, which means the Pelicans will offer eight different colors of Fidget Spinner. Each toy will bear the Pelicans' logo.

"Fidget spinners are the new hot trend," Jen Brunson, the Pelicans' assistant general manager of community development said. "We've jumped on the bandwagon and we're excited for these new collectible pieces, with each Friday offering a different color and design to fans."

Promotion: Merge Records Night/Red Sox organist
Team: Durham Bulls
Date: June 4
The Bulls are aces when it comes to celebrating local cultures. That's shown in their annual Food Truck Rodeos, on their DURM uniforms and their reinvestment in the community. On Sunday they'll continue that trend with the fifth annual Merge Records Night. The local label will provide a sampler CD that will be given away with the purchase of $9.99, terrace-view tickets. Merge Records will be played all night long, with one exception. The Pawtucket Red Sox will be in town, and they'll bring with them Boston Red Sox organist Josh Kantor, who will tickle keys between innings.

Promotion: Let's Make A Deal Night
Team: Lakewood BlueClaws
Date: June 16
Whether you're a fan of Monty Hall or Wayne Brady, this promotion is for you. The BlueClaws will celebrate the classic game show with a night of tributes and contests designed to celebrate the show that weighed a contestant's sense of greed against their sense of prudence. No matter whether you enter FirstEnergy Stadium through gate No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3, there's no chance you'll leave feeling like you just got zonked.

Hopefully they'll play this song, which also combines baseball and "Let's Make A Deal," sometime during the festivities.

2019 MLB Organization Of The Year: Tampa Bay Rays

The small-budget Rays still win big, the culmination of several years of hard work throughout all facets of the organization.

Promotion: Tribute To Springfield Night
Team: Fresno Grizzlies
Date: June 29
Nobody is quite sure in which Springfield "The Simpsons" is set‚ÄĒand Homer was famously a member of the Pacific Coast League-rival Albuquerque Isotopes‚ÄĒbut that won't stop the Grizzlies from paying tribute to¬†the show and fictional city. The team, which wears Tacos jerseys every Tuesday (and Bacon hats sometime in June), will add another food-themed jersey to its stable of apparel when it dons donut-themed jerseys to celebrate Homer (who was just inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame), Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie ... and maybe even stupid Flanders. With a promotion like this, the Grizzlies are sure rake in the D'oh!
