The New York-Penn League’s all-star game will be played in Staten Island on Aug. 21, and the rosters for the game are headlined by a pair of top Indians prospects from their Mahoning Valley club.

Outfielder George Valera is perhaps the game’s most interesting prospect, and he’s found a high level of success as one of the league’s youngest players. His eight home runs are tied with fellow all-stars Joe Genord and Jordan Diaz for third in the league, and his .808 OPS ranks ninth.

His teammate, Brayan Rocchio, comes highly regarded and has shown flashes of his talent as a teenager in a league typically filled with college players.

The league’s home run leader, Staten Island second baseman Ezequiel Duran, has impressed scouts with his skills on both sides of the ball. He looks to be the next in the line of Yankees intriguing international infielders.

The Red Sox are represented by talented teenaged outfielder Gilberto Jimenez, who possesses an intriguing blend of tools and boasts a .361/.392/.483 slash line. All three categories rank among the league’s top 10. He’s accompanied by righthander Yusniel Padron-Artilles, a 21-year-old whose 80 strikeouts lead the league.

The rosters are rounded out by two first-round shortstops from this year’s draft—Williamsport’s Bryson Stott and Hudson Valley’s Greg Jones. Stott, who received high marks for his potential on offense and defense as an amateur at Nevada-Las Vegas, and has swatted five home runs so far in the NYPL.

Jones, a speedster from North Carolina-Wilmington, has already racked up three triples and 13 stolen bases in 35 games with the Renegades.
