High School Player Spotlight: Quentin Holmes

Baseball America and Triple Crown Sports present our High School Player Spotlight. In this edition, Hudson Belinsky speaks with Quentin Holmes.

Quentin Holmes is one of the top prospects in the 2017 class. An outfielder from New York, Holmes began to establish himself on the national scene with a strong performance at the 2015 Perfect Game Junior National Showcase, and he followed up his performance there with strong showings at the 2015 Metropolitan Baseball Classic and 2016 Maplezone Invitational. This summer, Holmes is off to a hot start, having shown well at the Perfect Game National Showcase and USA Baseball’s Tournament of Stars. Holmes was named to the 40-man roster for the 18U National Team trials.

The New York native is oozing with athleticism. He’s a plus-plus runner with natural instincts in center field, and he has a short, compact swing geared for high contact rates. Holmes has a lengthy and wiry body, with room to add even more muscle as he matures.

In this video, Holmes talks about his career to this point, his college recruiting process, what it feels like to represent New York City, and a few of the things he does when he’s back home.
