High School Player Spotlight: Kyle Jacobsen

Baseball America and Triple Crown Sports present our High School Player Spotlight. In this edition, Hudson Belinsky speaks with Kyle Jacobsen.

Kyle Jacobsen is a star outfielder and lefthanded pitcher at Allatoona High (Acworth, Ga.). Jacobsen also has extensive travel baseball experience, having won the Connie Mack World Series as a key contributor for the East Cobb Yankees in 2015. His best tools are his speed and defense in center field, though he shows flashes with his bat, as you’ll see in this video when he hits a double off of hard-throwing righthander Hans Crouse.

Jacobsen has been known to make highlight-reel plays in center field, as he made some excellent plays during the Perfect Game Junior National and National showcases in 2015 and 2016.

Jacobsen is committed to play college baseball at South Carolina. Current Gamecocks ace Clarke Schmidt is also a product of Allatoona High, so Jacobsen won’t be the first Buccaneer to don the garnet and black.

In this video, Jacobsen talks about his initial exposure to the game of baseball, as well as his experiences as a player and the factors that went into his decision to commit to South Carolina. Jacobsen also talks about his favorite major league player.
