Thursday’s Stars

Christin Stewart, LF, Tigers. Stewart has had an outstanding big league debut, but no day has been better than yesterday. Stewart hit a pair of home runs yesterday and drove in six runs.

Rowdy Tellez, 1B, Blue Jays. Much like Stewart, Tellez has taken his September call-up and has embraced it. Tellez doubled and homered yesterday which raised his already sparkling stat line to .385/.400/.744. He now has eight doubles and two home runs in just 39 at-bats. Tellez hit only .270/.345/.425 at Triple-A this year, so he will have to do this for quite a while to prove it’s not a hot streak, but so far he’s doing a very good job of giving himself a shot at being looked at very closely during spring training next year.

Luke Voit, 1B, Yankees. The day after he went 4-for-4 with two home runs, Voit homered in his first at-bat on Thursday. The home runs was Voit’s 10th in just 97 at-bats with the Yankees, giving him the best home run rate on the team. He also becomes the 12th Yankees player to reach double digits in home runs this year.

Danny Jansen, C, Blue Jays. Jansen hit his third home run for the Blue Jays. The catcher hasn’t matched Tellez’s hot start, but a .254/.341/.465 stat line is not bad for a backstop.
