Newsmakers from Thursday’s action:

Ian Happ, OF, Cubs. Cody Bellinger’s outstanding season ensures he won’t be winning rookie of the year, but Happ’s outstanding rookie year continued with his 23rd home run of the season on Thursday.

Josh Bell, 1B, Pirates. Speaking of solid NL rookie seasons, Bell hit his 26th home run of his rookie season. It was his second straight game with a home run and it continues a 6-for-12 run that is turning around what had been a dismal September for Bell.

Tyler Glasnow, RHP, Pirates. Glasnow showed significant improvement in his control in a return to Triple-A. But those improvements have not carried over to the big leagues. Glasnow walked five in 3.2 innings yesterday. Glasnow has now walked 15 in 7.2 innings since he returned to the majors.

Aaron Judge, OF, Yankees. Judge hit his 51st home run on Thursday, adding to his rookie home run record.
