2018 New York-Penn League Top 20 Prospects For 2018
There are years where the New York-Penn League received a massive influx of first-round draft picks from the most recent draft.
And then there are years like 2018. The league wasn’t bereft of talent, but it didn’t receive the flood of first rounders that can boost the league. And some of the top players like Tri-City outfielder Seth Beer (Astros) were in and out of the league too quickly to qualify for the league top 20 list. Beer hit four home runs in just 11 games before being promoted.
Outfielder Parker Meadows (Tigers), catcher Carlos Narvaez (Yankees), righthander Jake Irvin (Nationals) and LHP Kevin Smith (Mets) were among other players who impressed in stints that were too brief to qualify for the league’s list.
Tri-City boasts the No. 1 prospect on this year’s list (Gilberto Celestino) and the league’s title. Tri-City swept through the playoffs going 4-0 with a championship series win over Hudson Valley.
