Zamora was among the top tier of college shortstops in the 2020 class, but a knee injury suffered in a preseason practice wiped out his junior season before it began. He had started to tap into more power each year and would have been in the middle of the Miami’s lineup as well as the Hurricanes' defensive leader at shortstop. Zamora has the tools to be an impact defender at shortstop, though he shows a tendency to get lazy on routine plays. If he cleans those up, Zamora has the potential to be an easy plus defender with impressive hands, solid range and a reliable throwing arm. Zamora’s power is fringe-average, but he shows a solid understanding of the strike zone and has at least an average hit tool. He has above-average speed and is a savvy baserunner, going 33-for-40 (82.5 percent) in stolen bases in his career. A solid all-around player who is likely to stick at shortstop, Zamora could have played his way into first-round consideration if he was healthy and hitting. He will likely slide because of his injury, but will still be in day one consideration thanks to very few holes in his game.
