Trevor Hauver

A high school shortstop, Hauver has primarily played the outfield at Arizona State because of the Sun Devils' wealth of infielders. He’s posted an OPS over 1.000 in the middle of the ASU lineup each of the last two seasons, providing valuable protection for mashers like Hunter Bishop and Spencer Torkelson. Hauver has had a good approach at the plate and good barrel control. He improved his pitch selection during the abbreviated 2020 college season and still hit for both average and power, elevating his status as a draft prospect. Hauver projects to be an average hitter with average or better power, but he does have some some swing-and-miss concerns even with his improved pitch selection. Hauver will need to hit at the next level because he’s just an average defender in the outfield, with not enough range for center field or enough arm strength for right field. Some observers believe Hauver could be an average defender at third base. Regardless of where he ends up defensively, his track record of hitting has him in position to be drafted before the end of the draft's second day.
