In the past 40 years, there have only been eight players drafted out of Nebraska high schools in the top 10 rounds--none ever taken higher than the third round. Stobbe likely won't top Jackson Reetz (third round, 2014) and Scott Bream's (third round, 1989) spots, but he has a solid chance of being another top 10 round pick. The Arkansas signee impresses with solid athleticism, although there are questions of where he'll end up playing defensively in pro ball. The high school shortstop has an unconventional arm stroke and limited range thanks to average speed. But he has the chance to handle a slide to second or third base because of his offensive potential. Stobbe's bat is quick to the zone and long in it with solid-average bat speed and some strength to his swing. He has the potential to develop an average hit tool with average power, something he showed consistently on the showcase circuit in 2015. Stobbe is headed to play in the Cal Collegiate league this summer, so a team picking him will get a brief look at how he fares against college competition.
