Gray has a chance to be the highest draft pick out of Austin Peay since the Angels selected Chuck Abbott in the second round in 1996. Gray was a three-year starter for the Governors, putting himself in the draft discussion with an excellent sophomore season in which he batted .366 and swatted 14 home runs. Gray missed time with a fractured elbow this spring, but the injury did not affect his plus raw power. Gray is a righthanded hitter with a big swing, and some evaluators are concerned about the swing-and-miss to his game. There's also a range of opinions on his defense, with some scouts projecting him to play third base long term and others seeing a move to the outfield in his future.
