Gage Workman

Workman spent three years as the starting third baseman at Arizona State, teaming with first baseman Spencer Torkelson and shortstop Alika Williams to give the Sun Devils arguably the best infield in college baseball. While Torkelson and Williams are considered better prospects as potential first-round picks, Workman is one of the youngest college players in the draft class at 20 years old and has plenty of upside himself. Workman runs well underway and projects to have an intriguing combination of power and speed. A switch-hitter, Workman has better bat speed and more power from the left side. There’s some swing-and-miss to his approach, but he has plus raw power that will show better in games when he gets more experience. Workman is athletic and rangy, with the tools to be a plus defender at third base and has at least a solid-average arm with good carry. He also held his own playing shortstop during his two summers in the Cape Cod League. There’s still rawness to Workman's game and he would have benefited significantly from a full junior season, but he has plenty of offensive tools and a chance to be solid at either position on the left side of the infield.
